from 1999 to 2011 year

Russian Youth Theatre (RYT) has played an active role in the cultural life of the city of Toronto, taking part in festivals, concerts and celebrations of International Women's day, Victory Day and the International Day of Theatre. Every year brings with it new shows. RYT is presenting more than 40 performances per season, garnering more than six thousand visitohe theatre rs a year, and the theater audience is constantly growing. Created in 1999 by the opera singer Nikolay Cherkasov and the pianist Andrew Kartuzov. They wanted to remain faithful to their vocation and to transmit their love to art to the young generation of Russian immigration. The first performances were «Lady Cat's Mansion», «Twelve months», «Cinderella», «Musicians From Town Bremen». The first performances were played by children who were studying acting, singing and dancing. For the first five years of its existence over 100 young actors received real theatrical expirience on the stage during more than 50 performances. Over time, the guys formed a permanent troupe. Initially performances and rehearsals were held in the "Russian House" belonged to the Russian-Canadian Cultural Aid Society. In 2004, the theatre has received financial support from the Ontario Arts Council Foundation for staging of the play «Wit Works Woe»  by Alexander Griboyedov .

The theater quickly grew and developed, and eventually the "Russian House" became too small.
In 2005 year the theater rented big room for rehearsals, but continued to book various theatrical halls in Toronto for performances. Search for permanent premises continued until the year 2008, when finally the theater found a new home in the North of Toronto at Alness Street 48. In this building theatrical stage and Auditorium for 154 seats were assembled and equipped with professional light and sound. By the time the main troupe, busy in the performances, has accumulated nearly ten years experience of performances on the stage. Unfortunately in November of 2012, the theatre was forced to leave the premises and relocate to Earl Bales Community Centre.
Since the founding of the theatre Nikolay Cherkasov staged 19 plays in colaboration with Alla Kartuzova, Andrew Kartuzov, Valentina Souetova, Ekaterina Kornienkova, Ekaterina Maryevych. The repertoire contains works of Russian writers and playwrights. It is noteworthy that the second generation of Russian immigration in Canada formed a clear understanding that the Russian language is part of the world heritage and must be preserved for his children. So the theatre became the place where young viewers learn the richness and beauty of the Russian language. Some plays have been translated into English and played in front of an English-speaking audience. In 2012 Valentina Souetova staged the 20th play «All Mice Love Cheese» . This production opened a new page in theatre history after late artistic director Nikolay Cherkasov left Canada in January of 2012.

In 2007, the theater received an award from the Russian-Canadian Business Association for its contribution to the cultural development of young people in Greate Toronto Area. In 2009, together with the television channel NTV Canada filmed TV version of the play «Wit Works Woe», which was greeted with enthusiasm on Canadian television.
In 2011, the Russian Consulate General in Toronto delivered a Theatre Award for its contribution to the promotion and development of Russian culture in Canada.
