After World War Two "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by Lyman Frank Baum became famous in USSR because of Russian writer Alexander Volkov who translated the original books into Russian. A.Volkov changed some names and combined several books in one. As the story gained popularity he created other stories which seemed to be a continuation of the first book.

Plot: The play's plot is based on the adventures of the main character Elly and her faithful friends: dog Totoshka, Tin Woodman, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion.
